Book Challenges!!!

I decided this month I was going to take on some book challenges. The reason is to expand my horizon but also to get more creative, so I do not get bored with my current genre. My goals for the year 2013 is to read 600 books...There are no guidelines like they have to be over 100 pages and so forth. I read anything that interests me that means mainstream authors and even indie authors as well. I do not discriminate and I do not pass on an author because of how many bloggers support him/her. I read the description, see the cover and go from there; however if there is no description then I read other people's opinions and see what they think. I usually read the book if something catches my eye and I hope to be a non bias reader because that would totally suck if I became bias because a woman wrote it instead of a man.

Since I belong to a group on Goodreads called "My Vampire Book Obsession" I decided to go ahead and participate in the challenges. I finished the May challenge and started the 3 month challenges however I completed those as well. I never use the same book twice so these are all separate. Now I am doing one called "Who is the greatest BIBLIOBIBULI?????" click on the link and you can join too.

I want to do more than just read and post my opinions on Goodreads but how do I do it. I am not that outgoing and I have a hard time putting myself out there. so here is my chance to do it and see if I can get anyone to notice me.

I have read many books and some I have wondered why and others I have just asked myself why not....

That Boy, That Wedding by Jillian Dodd

Omg!!! Seriously?!?!? I just got done reading these 2 books and let me say it is something that I can relate too. I was blown away by her writing style and I thought wow I wish I could write this way. She tore throw barriers like they were tissue paper.

The parents angle was heart breaking and real. There is no way anyone could not feel the pain and anguish through those pages. I felt vulnerable and unable to turn away. I know that pain and it just got me.

The chemistry between the three of them was so surreal. I was glad she didn't get with Danny because he needed someone so grounded. Jadyn is messed up and I am so glad that Phillip was there. He made everything ok for her without her even realizing it. The three of them fit like a puzzle and Jadyn's friend fit in to make it complete.

That boy made me realize what my kids are missing that connection between kids that are needed. I mean the best friends since grade school is just not that way at least here (Florida) anyways. I had friends that were growing up with me but it seems that has changed and it disappoints me. I would so like it if my kids played sports with other neighborhood kids then went to the same school. She highlights alot of things that have changed and I don't know whether it is the times or just the areas.

Jadyn is a really interesting character. She defies rules, does not fit into any kind of mold at all. I believe in some way or another many people wish they were like that. The impulsiveness bleeds through the book like it is blood and no one can stop it. She is like a tornado that will not stop and has torn through everything in her way. I enjoyed that and it made me laugh.

Danny seems to me like the typical guy. He is so oblivious it makes my head hurt. Does he not see what is in front of him or does he not care. I wonder.... Hmmm not for nothing but Jillian nailed him and I was so glad to read about a normal sports jock who in the end turns out to be a decent guy.

Phillip is one of those guys every girl wishes for. The knight in shining armor that comes to the rescue for everything:
                                                                  Flat tire... Check!
                                                                  To drunk to drive..... Check!
                                                                  Need your car washed....... Check!
Need a shoulder to cry on.......Check!
I mean everything she ever wanted and he gave it to her. I was seriously about to scream when it came to that wedding because he loved her so much that he was there. How many guys like Phillip are out there? Kind, Generous, and calm hello sign me up.

Overall incredible journey cannot wait for that baby and I am waiting patiently....

Novellas

I love novellas when I'm stuck somewhere waiting. I like short reads that are to the point and do not drag stuff out. I'm not saying I don't like regular novels, I do however in some instances I don't have time to be drawn into a novel right now.

I'm happy with reading. I like many books however my favorites are vampire novels. I know if anyone could see my goodreads list it would seem different however the books I have been reading are a dime a dozen. They keep my interest and there are many of them so it gets me excited about the genre. So far most are exotic and involve lots of sex. Which is ok to bring the story together but not as a center point.
I am hopeful with my challenge of 600 because I need a space for a couple of days but then I need to have the time crunch. I need to feel that overwhelming rush of achieving it and the oh no I need to keep up. It's a little strange.
Well until next time....

January 2013 Book reviews

Hello all

I have read 15 books so far and I wanted to enter this contest to get rid of my TBR pile because geez it is building. However I guess I am not literate enough to enroll or put up my reviews. I feel stupid really inadequate. Oh Well!!

So here is my link for my 15 books:  http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/6071893-dena

Enjoy!! Currently I am reading Ten Tiny Breaths By K.A. Tucker and I am involved because it is enticing and I love the Miami background for anything else you will just have to wait ;-). I am hoping I will make my challenge of 600 books this year however, it has been busy in the household and it isn't a priority for right now. I know I don't think anyone thought I would say that but I did.

The past 15 have been fairly good. I mean there have been some that I already forgot because it wasn't that interesting and others I am like I still remember or can't wait for the next one to come out. I liked The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski, The Covenant Series by Jennifer Armentrout, The Providence Trilogy by Jamie McGuire, and then From Ashes by Molly McAdams. These have been on my mind and I have a very vivid detail about each of those books. Then there are some that I just wish I could forget or I wish there was something more it was missing something. Anyways, I am glad I have the ability to read these books and time to myself in order to read them.

Ok so this is my January list so far and I will add when I finish for the month...
